SCHOELLER BLECKMANN Edelstahlrohr GmbH (SBER) is a 100% subsidiary of the TUBACEX S.A. which is located in Llodio, Spain. Tubacex is one of the leading producers of seamless stainless steel tubing products in the world. This offers the benefits of well-respected international corporation and the advantageous of a fully integrated production process with facilities and sales offices all over the world.

Established in 1975 and bought by Tubacex in 1999, SBER produces a wide range of corrosion-, acid- and heat-resistant stainless steel pipes and tubes in over 70 different steel grades always fulfilling the highest quality standards. With approximately 500 employees in a facility of 200.000 m2, SBER produces about 15,000 tons of seamless tubes and pipes per year and is one of the most important employers in the region of Ternitz (Lower Austria).

Our History

SCHOELLER BLECKMANN Edelstahlrohr GmbH (SBER) itself was founded in 1991 after a long period operating under the name of SCHOELLER-BLECKMANN Stahlwerke AG (1924).Since the beginnings of the 1960 the company produces seamless stainless steel tubes, a business which became stronger in 1999 when SBER was successfully integrated into the stock-listed Tubacex S.A.

From that moment, SBER belongs to one of the major manufacturers of seamless stainless steel tubes in the world contributing with many years of experience in the business.In 2011 SBER started the production of a very demanding and competitive product – umbilical tubes (offshore) – and inaugurated its special tube mill in Ternitz. That was a great investment with a significant impact on the competitiveness of the company.SBER About Us - History

Interesting facts about SBER

  • Tubacex S.A. acquired SBER in 1999.
  • SBER itself has sales subsidiaries located in Germany, France
  • In 2004 SBER produced its biggest quantity of 15.000 tons of seamless stainless steel tubes.
  • In 2011 SBER entered into the Oil & Gas market, specifically in SURF applications (subsea, umbilicals, risers and flowlines) with a new specialized production plant.)
  • In the same year a new hot extrusion press was installed in SBER producing small-diameter hot formed tubes in special steels and alloys.
  • In 2014 SBER automated a part of the process in the raw material preparation by integrating robot technology.
  • In 2015 SBER completed its investment strategy with another new welding line in its umbilical plant, increasing the capacity by 30%.
